Roots & Fruits values the importance of building a community internally and beyond the walls of the school. The children engage in an annual fundraiser, where they bring their general store outside and sell baked goods to the local community. The children also learn about the importance of giving to others, and during the “Giving Season,” or “Holiday Season” the children make food for homeless adults and youth. Community artists and educators have also participated in the curriculum by sharing their culture, music, dance, and stories.
